For transparency I studied for 6 weeks, started with nbme 6 at 237 and 263 on real exam. UWSA average is a very accurate estimate of your score.īasically my advice is to rip questions and use flashcards to try to retain as much of the straight up memorizable facts as possible. The older NBMEs should be used as extra questions, but they have repeats so do them after you've completed 6-8. NBME 6 and 8 are pretty good, 7 will underestimate your score by a lot. ![]() If you used step 1 FA it will suffice.Īdditionally, I'd recommend taking the step 2ck nbme's as a rough estimate of your progress alongside the UWSAs. It's scary because I felt like I didn't have a textbook resource or OME to help me, but these tests are about recognizing specific scenarios and being able to reason between two choices with intuition you gain from doing questions. On the real test I recognized at least 5-10 questions directly from shelf exams I took throughout the year and regretted not being more familiar with the stupid way they like to ask questions. It's just questions questions and more questions to improve your score. If you have <6 weeks I'd recommend doing your Uworld (I did 90-120 questions 6 days a week + made very very short to the point flashcards for memorizable stuff), do the flashcards you make, and then going through the practice nbme exams for shelfs. ![]() I honestly feel like OME videos are a waste of time unless you have like 6 months to study for this test. Other than that I didn't use any text book, I control+f searched the shit out of my Step 1 first aid though. I did use the printed OME OB/GYN notes as a reference for when I was doing questions on that subject, but that's because I really sucked at OB/GYN and needed a source to tie my knowledge to. ![]() I watched maybe 2 OME videos when I began studying and never went back.
